David Leppla's whimsical and creative personality radiates from his giant hand blown glass vessels. It is this one-of-a-kind quality which causes his work to be sought after and exhibited by many public and private collectors. He has work in the permanent collections of the Rockford Art Museum, Rockford, Illinois; The New Orleans Museum of Art, New Orleans, Louisiana; The Wheaton Museum of American Glass, Millville, New Jersey; and The Museum of Decorative Arts, Lausanne, Switzerland. He also has exhibited in many prestigious museums and galleries such as Cleveland Museum of Art; the Minneapolis Institute of Art; Tucson Museum of Art Traveling Museum Exhibition, Tucson, Arizona; and the shows in Copenhagen, Denmark and Stockholm, Sweden. David received his Bachelor of Science degree form the University of Wisconsin, Madison after which he was awarded an ITT Fellowship to study glass in Stockholm, Sweden. David attained his masters of Fine Art Degree from Kent State . Over the years, David has taught and lectured at several prominent schools including Kent State, University of Minnesota, university of Massachusetts, the Appalachian Center for Crafts and Pilchuck School of Glass in Washington. David Lappla's latest series Fish Vessel, are fun large scale vessels which are adorned by tropical, vibrantly colored fish that swim in and out through the surface of the vessels. David pushes this theme even further by adding dimensional green strips of glass resembling kelp to the bottom of the vessels.
